If you've never been to a sound bath, the name alone probably raises a question: are you actually getting wet? (No — promise.) A sound bath is a guided meditation where instead of silence, you're "bathed" in layers of sound — crystal singing bowls, gongs, chimes, and resonant tones designed to calm the nervous system and quiet a busy mind.

At SOHAM Yoga in Royal Palm Beach, we hold our Sound Bath Meditation on the last Sunday of every month at 10:15 am, and it's become one of our most-loved gatherings — no yoga experience or flexibility required. You don't even need to move. You just lie down, listen, and receive.

What Actually Happens During a Sound Bath Meditation in Royal Palm Beach

You'll settle onto a mat with a blanket and maybe a bolster or pillow (we have props on hand if you need them). As the room quiets, Yani begins playing a sequence of instruments — most often crystal singing bowls, sometimes paired with chimes or a gong. Each bowl produces a different frequency, and as the tones overlap, they create a kind of sound landscape that shifts through the session.

Physiologically, this isn't just a nice ambiance. The vibrations and repetitive tones help shift the body out of a stress response and into a more restful state — many people describe it as the fastest way they've found to actually quiet their thoughts, faster even than seated meditation.

Most people spend the hour lying in stillness (savasana-style), simply letting the sound move through the room. Some drift into a light sleep. Others stay fully aware and just feel the tension leave their shoulders, jaw, and chest. Both are completely normal.

Who Sound Baths Are For

This is one of the most accessible practices we offer at the studio. You don't need:

  • Any yoga or meditation experience

  • Flexibility or physical fitness

  • To "be good at" meditating

If you carry stress in your body, have a hard time shutting your brain off at night, or just want an hour where nobody needs anything from you — this is built for you.

What to Bring

  • A yoga mat (or use one of ours)

  • A blanket — the room stays cool and your body temperature drops during deep rest

  • Comfortable clothing you can lie down in

  • An open mind, and zero expectations of "doing it right"

When to Join Us

Our Sound Bath Meditation runs on the last Sunday of the month at 10:15 am at SOHAM Yoga, 1241 N State Road 7, Suite 2, Royal Palm Beach, FL. Spots are limited since we keep the room intimate, so we'd recommend reserving ahead.

Not ready to commit to a full session yet? Come experience our space first at one of our regular classes, or reach out with any questions — we're always happy to help first-timers feel comfortable before they walk in the door.

Sound Baths at SOHAM Yoga are guided by Yani Daes, founder of SOHAM Yoga and instructor with 8+ years of experience in Royal Palm Beach.
